Installation
To install Handy Keylogger, please, download the latest build, and launch the installer.
Follow the instructions, and pay special attention to the folder where you install Handy Keylogger
into. When the installation is over, you will be shown a small description of how you can launch and use
Handy Keylogger. This message will be closed only when you complete first steps and launch the Keylogger.
Every time you start your computer, Handy Keylogger will automatically be loaded and start gathering keyboard
strokes. It will work in absolutely hidden mode, until you need to view the logs or customize its settings.
To unhide Handy Keylogger, please follow these actions:
- Press WIN+R, or launch Run dialog going to Start menu -> Run
- Type "shadow32"
- Press Enter, or click OK
- Type in your unhide password (If it is the first time you launch it, it will ask you to set the
unhide password, type it in and go to Step 1)
- If the unhide password is correct, you will be granted the access to Handy Keylogger.
Every time you close Handy Keylogger, it automatically goes into stealth/hidden mode. If you made any changes
in Keylogger's settings, it will prompt a confirmation to save them. After you close Handy Keylogger you will need
to unhide it again to view logs or customize its settings.
Viewing logs
To view logs, unhide Handy Keylogger (described above), go to "View logs" tab.
Here you will see Handy Keylogger's Dates picker, using the calendar add dates (double-click or highlight
and click "Add date") you wish to view the logs for. You can add separate dates or whole months (switch
between "day" and "previous month"). You can also remove added dates one by one or clear the whole list.
When you get your list prepared, press "View logs now", the logs will be generated for you and shown in your default
browser. After viewing the logs, just close browser window. Generated logs will be deleted when you hide the Keylogger.
Clearing logs
To clear logs, unhide Handy Keylogger (described above), go to "Clear logs" tab.
In "Logs clearance list" select logs you wish to clear and press "Clear selected logs now".
The logs you selected will be cleared completely, beginning with the first date these logs were written to.
Here you can also customize automatic logs clearing.
Handy Keylogger options
After you unhide Handy Keylogger, the first options you will notice are: starting and stopping keylogging.
Using these buttons on the top toolbar you will be able to temporarily stop and later restart Handy Keylogger's
engine. Handy Keylogger's "Preferences" tab has the following options to customize:
- Enable monitoring warning at startup - if enabled, every time your PC is booted a tiny monitoring message
will be shown (you can customize this message below this checkbox)
- WEB activity interval - to activate web-monitoring (websites visited and opened), please, specify any positive
interval. Note, that web-activity will only be monitored if there is keyboard activity on your PC.
- Snapshots making interval - if you want to enable visual surveillance features, set positive snapshots interval in
minutes. Note, that this parameter is very sensitive to your CPU load if the interval is short.
- Snapshots making quality - here you can specify the quality of snapshots being taken when snapshots making is
active. The less the quality is, the less CPU will be used during taking the screenshots.
- Enable graphics clipboard monitoring - if activated, every image or graphics that will be copied to clipboard
will appear in the Clipboard log.
- Enable text clipboard monitoring - if activated, all texts copied to clipboard will be enrolled into Clipboard log.
- Grayscale snapshots - to save your PC performance, you can get snapshots in grayscale in case you don't need color
details.
- Replace system keys with images in logs - when checked system keys (such as CTRL, ALT, SHIFT, TAB, ENTER, ESC, etc)
will be replaced with tiny nice images and your logs will have much better visual overview.

Sending logs to e-mail
Handy Keylogger offers a great feature of sending logs directly to your e-mail, letting you view the logs remotely
without any physical access to monitored computer, which is really convenient when you are out on vacation, at work, etc.
To enable this feature, you need to set a few parameters in Handy Keylogger's preferences. First, set a positive
"Logs e-mail interval" (note, that it is counted in hours). Handy Keylogger uses standard means of e-mail sending,
that is why it needs SMTP server to notify you via e-mail. So, if you don't know which SMTP server to use, we suggest
you should contact your ISP to find out which one will be accessible for your computer. Enter that address (for example
"mx1.mail.yahoo.com" for Yahoo e-mail clients) in "SMTP server" field. Now specify 2 e-mail addresses: one that will appear in
FROM field, and another which will represent the address you will receive your logs TO. By default SMTP server works at
port 25, but this parameter can be different from server to server, so, please, be sure to enter correct port.
You can also specify letter size limit, it will allow you to receive logs that are larger than your allowed size by your
mailbox.
Uninstallation
Handy Keylogger will not appear on your Add/Remove Programs list, so, please, be sure to get acquainted with the way
to uninstall it. To remove the program from your computer you will need to launch "uninstall.exe" in the installation
directory (by default Handy Keylogger is installed in %WINDIR%\SYSTEM32\XMLEXT or %WINDIR%\SYSTEM\XMLEXT). In case you forgot where you installed
Handy Keylogger into, you can reinstall it and pay attention where you are installing it to so you can uninstall the
software from there.
Demo version and registration
As Handy Keylogger is shareware, free trial version is fully-functioning for 7 days only. After your trial period is

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
- I changed settings in Handy Keylogger's preferences, but it does not take effect, for example,
I regenerated logs, but system keys are still replaced with images. What is wrong?
Handy Keylogger renews settings and applies changes made by you when you restart the application.
So, when you customize preferences, you need to hide it again (close the window) to apply the changes.
You can launch "shadow32" again if you need to view renewed logs.
- When the installation was over I got the message telling me the similar keylogger had already been installed
on my computer. What's wrong?
The message means there's already a keylogger installed on your PC, that has the same or similar keylogging
engine as Quick Keylogger. This message is also shown to let you know about possible conflicts. Usually,
in this case Quick Keylogger will override previously installed modules.
- I forgot my protection password, and now cannot view the logs, how do I proceed?
Simply reinstall Handy Keylogger (better to the same folder). You will reset the password and will be able to
choose a new one.
- How can I clear "Run" history?
You have the option to prevent appearance of your "shadow32" call in "Run" history (recommended) or clear this
history after you reviewed the logs. Note, that it DOES NOT clear the logs. So to prevent Windows writing your
launch of "shadow32" into the history, you can first call "Command Prompt" and type "shadow32" there. To launch
command prompt: in "Run" dialog type "cmd" (for Windows NT/2000/XP/2003) or "command" (for Windows 95/98/Me).
Now when a window with black area appears, just type what you had to: "shadow32". On the other hand, if you
prefer to clear the history after viewing the logs, you will need to logoff/logon into your user account in
Windows NT/2000/XP/2003 (note, that it has to be true logoff, not user switching), or reboot your PC if you
are using Windows 95/98/Me. "shadow32" entry is now wiped out of your "Run" history.
- My hard drive crashed and I need to install the software again, how can I retrieve my registration info?

- I setup all e-mail settings the same as in my Outlook program, it still doesn't send any log files, what am I doing wrong?
There are many possible problems and solutions. Here're a few you can try:
first, try setting up e-mailing settings to send logs and receive them to the same e-mail address. So, try
setting FROM and TO fields to the same mailbox. Second, try setting FROM e-mail to postmaster@your_domain.com
and TO to your e-mail you will receive logs at. Finally, it is possible that the keylogger cannot determine
the IP of your mail server. Try inputting the IP instead of domain name like smtp.my_domain.com .
